Introduction
Dear Class:
I'm happy and excited to meet all of you and I look forward to helping you to learn English. The teachers in the English Department at NSTU have asked me to teach you English with the aid of computers. So in class I will try to use a lot of computer activities, such as PowerPoint, blogs, podcasts, etc. I hope this is interesting to you.
In America, teachers usually offer something called "office hours." Office hours are a specific time every week when students can come to see the professor and ask him questions. I plan to designate a specific hour each week when I will be available in the teachers' room (kafedr) on the fifth floor in room 503b. I still have not chosen the hour, but I will post it on this website soon. If you ever have any questions, need help with an assignment, or simply want to practice speaking English, please come to see me during my office hours (which I will post soon!).
A bit about myself: I'm 23, I graduated from university a year and a half ago with two separate degrees, one in Computer Science, and one in Russian langauge. I've been studying Russian language for about 4 years, and I am always looking for opportunities to speak and practice Russian. I'm from the state of Ohio, which is in the very center of America. In fact, people call it "The Heart of it All", it is our state slogan, because we are said to be in the very heart of America, kind of like Novosibirsk, which is in the center of Russia. I have many many interests--literature, music, sports (running, basketball, soccer, or as most of the world calls it, 'futbol'), films, to name only some of them. I will tell you much more about myself in class.
I am really looking forward to teaching you and getting to know all of you this year. Talk to you soon,
Dusty
